Lila is my neighbor and she’s a wonderful, kind woman. She is an artist that has lived all over the world, and was taught by some very famous people. She’s been teaching my kids art for a while. They are already budding artists but we love spending time with her and you really can never learn too much.
She had a heart attack last week and we spent a few days at the hospital. She came back home over the weekend and holiday and then we had to go back to the hospital again last night.
Well, it seems that the damage done during her heart attack is not repairable, and she is not expected to make it much longer.
I’m sure her sons are really trying to get here to be with her. At least I hope they are. She had been looking forward to it so much.
I am taking care of her house and cat until someone else from her family can get here. I am going to take some pictures of her paintings so that the world can share in her joy. Maybe I’ll even share some of her adventures that she liked to tell about.
And now I’m off to the hospital…

Hello, my name is Jason and I stumbled upon an Andrew Wyeth book "art print book" at an auction near St. Petersburg FL. I have done a little research on the book and it seems to be quite valuable alone. I looked on the second page and found Lila Klute had signed the book as if it had belonged to her. Do you know anyone who would be interested in her book, just to keep to remember her, as a person? I don't have much invested in it and I would love to see it in a good home. I was going to put it on eBay but will wait a few days for a response. Thanks
Hi Jason:
Wow! That's very cool that you would come across her signature in that book. Aside from myself, I really don't personally know anyone who would be interested in it. I do know that she had some of her art in galleries in the Southwest US, so perhaps you might get at least some interest and make something on your investment if you inquire in that region.
Just out of curiosity, how much were you planning on trying to sell the book for? You can email me directly at wendymilonas@gmail.com if you prefer not to divulge that info to the public.
Thanks for bringing a smile to my face and Lila back into my heart. It's been a long time...
Take care!
You are very welcome for the "moment of smiles"! I currently have the book listed on eBay under the title;
Signed Lila Klute, Andrew Wyeth 1968 Art Book
It is at its starting price of $19.99.
I do not have much invested in the book so it would mean more to me to pass this book on to someone who can appreciate it.
If you cannot find it, please let me know and I will send more details to your e-mail address. Thanks!

Is my e-mail address also.
Did you find those news clippings in the book? Those are absolutely Lila's! She had tons of books with news clippings and notes in them!
I'm sorry, I've been busy trying to coordinate my move from CA to FL so I'm a little out of touch with all my email accounts not being set up on the laptop I'm using right now.
I'll keep an eye on it on ebay and if I get paid in time, and you haven't gotten another person to give you a good amount for it, I'll bid on it.
Thanks for letting me know where it was!
Hi,
I am an art historian and I am working on a biography for Lila Klute. My research indicates that both of her sons have passed away, and I have not been able to contact her remaining family, if any exists, so any information about her life and work as an artist would be much appreciated. My email address is kevin@kevindaniel.com. Any additional information about her that you could provide would be of great importance. Thanks for your help.

To mylifeatfull I have a dedication plaque with her bio and a picture of her on it very nicely done, had it for years also one of her painting, I got a box of paintings at an auction and couple of items was hers also if you Google her name and put obituaries her brother died a few years ago it states his granddaughter, don't know if that helps let me know if you have any question. Thank you.
Just thought of Googling Lila as I looked on my wall at her painting of the Spanish Steps in San Juan.. I was with her as she did the painting.. She and her boys lived in our condo in the mid sixties in Puerto Rico and my two young girls, Sally and Julie, loved to have fun together.. Her husband was with Swingway staple machines, etc, and my Carl was with GMAC at the time.. Her favorite drink at happy hour was pinchbottle Scotch and coke.. I'm 85 now and looking to downsize a bit, but I'll keep that painting forever remembering our good times in Puerto Rico!
If Lila is able to talk about those days, please remember me to her! We did have some good times together! Big hugs, Lila! Love you.. Happy memories..
